For Patients
Welcome Patients!
We hope that you find the information you need and that we will be a continued resource for you.
Iron disorders are known by many names: too much iron, too little iron, excess iron, insufficient iron, iron overload, hemochromatosis, anemia or Iron-Out-of-Balance™. Regardless what we call it, when iron is excessive or insufficient our risk for all chronic diseases, suffering and premature death is dramatically increased.
Iron Disorders Institute (IDI) is a national voluntary health agency that provides support, services and educational information for patients, family members and visitors. The IDI guidelines addresses issues about iron balance and health. We know that Iron-Out-of-Balance™ is a risk factor for many diseases. When iron is severely too high or severely too low a person can die. That’s tragic when you consider that many iron imbalances can be detected and managed early before a person gets ill. We exist so that all people with iron disorders receive early, accurate (complete) diagnosis, appropriate treatment and are equipped to live in good health. That’s our mission. Our vision is that no one should suffer or die prematurely because of Iron-Out-of-Balance™.
