Thank you for your decision to help Iron Disorders Institute! Those of you who are new to IDI may not know that I am one of the founding directors of the organization; my husband Harry has hereditary hemochromatosis. We know first-hand the suffering and challenges that come with this condition. So, I am delighted that you are willing to join forces here and help me with a very big job!

I am organizing people who want to help raise awareness about hemochromatosis in their community. Some of you have already talked with me by phone and I am touched by your eagerness to be involved. I also thank you for your comments and input about what is still a huge problem in the USA: the need for one set of hemochromatosis practice guidelines! As so many of you report, doctors still perform unnecessary liver biopsies,
still do not order the complete set of iron tests, still over-bleed or under-bleed patients, and sadly our blood is still being thrown away in many communities. We need you to help us turn this around!

In the USA there are:
918,000 Physicians
4.8 million Nurses
And 11,200 Physician Assistants joining the healthcare profession each year

We need to reach all of them!

I am so excited about the potential to work with old friends and new. Use the sign up form to let me know how you want to help!
